Hijab

Here is where I wish to present my personal point of view on Islam.  On the other pages, I have tried to remain objective.  I have also added points of view from my family.

I believe that Islam is the true religion.  I have experienced other beliefs and found them all to be lacking.  I don't wish to criticize others for their beliefs but they should not criticize mine.

I had an incident the other day when we were being visited by the LDS visiting teachers.  We were watching a newscast on TV when a part came on about another bombing.  One of the elders remarked that he wished these Muslim terrorists would all be arrested.  He then went on to make some remarks about Islam in general.  I became very angry and went about setting him straight.  I made it clear to him that what is seen on TV is not Islam.  Islam does not condone this type of activity and it was wrong to associate the word terrorist with the word Muslim.  He was surprised at the vehemence of my response and after I had finished, he agreed that his perception was indeed skewed by the media's presentation of the facts.  We are friends with this man and because of our example I believe many people have come to have a better idea of what Islam is.  My husband is a respected member of the community.

I strongly feel that a person can show the truth by their actions and it is unfortunate that the media persists in their misrepresentation of Islam.  As I said on my page about Islam it only takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch.  Islam is a religion of peace and we as Muslims can accomplish far more by peaceful means than we can by acts of violence.  As an American I realize that Muslims around the world do not have the experience  or knowledge to use the system for the them, but now it is imperative that they learn how to make the system work for them.

Islam is the fastest growing religion in the world with over a billion believers and it is one of the fastest growing religions in the U.S.  We must therefore assuage the fears of people and help them to understand they have nothing to fear from us.  We need to show them that we will treat others with fairness according to the principles set down in the Qur'an.  People only fear that which they don't understand.  Therefore as I said on my main page I believe that knowledge is the key to understanding and understanding is the key to accepting others.  It is my hope, Insha' Allah, that this site can help to accomplish this.

Hijab

The other day we were on our way home from a friends and were discussing the issue of Hijab.  I had learned some new things as to veiling and this was what we were talking about.  My thirteen year old offered his opinion of this and I was surprised but pleased by his thoughts.  He stated that he thought a woman should veil as her beauty should only be for her husband.  It seems that out of the mouth of babes as the saying goes much is to be learned.  It is important that we listen to our children because sometimes they have something worth listening to.

Music

Over the last week or so I have received some information on the Issue of music and because I feel it is an issue that needs serious investigation by Muslims I have added a section on it under children and a page on Music.  My view on this issue is that the there is substantial evidence point to the fact that Music is not acceptable in Islam.
